DUBAI If the idea of a Polish architect to create an underwater tennis centre sees the light of the day, Dubai can soon boast another first.

Kotala Krzysztof has prepared a stunning concept named as “Underwater Dubai Tennis Centre” and is currently looking for investment options in the UAE to make his dream a reality.

“We all know Dubai is a great place to execute a great idea,” Kotala Krzysztof told XPRESS from Warsaw, Poland.

“It’s an innovative approach to sports facilities. I’m at the beginning of the road and have prepared my concept. I’m looking for investors,” he added.

According to him, the proposed complex will consist of seven arenas which are multifunctional and will serve as a strong commercial potential while ensuring the ecosystem is not affected.

Grand Slam design

“Nowhere in the world do they play tennis underwater. The arena will in no way affect the natural ecological balance. The complex has been proposed to be built in the bay and it will allow the full preservation of the natural ecosystem. Underwater arena fits into the natural environment because it resembles a coral reef,” explained Krzysztof, who owns the 8+8 Concept Studio in Warsaw.

“The structure will allow the spectators to not only watch tennis but also view the sea and the reef on the rooftop,” said Krzysztof, adding the facility can make way for a fifth Grand Slam.

“Who knows, it can be an ideal location to host prestigious events in tennis. And I hope in all aspects Dubai becomes a great place to host one,” he said.
