ABU DHABI Abu Dhabi Municipality is coming up with two new projects for the capital – the Al Sharia Park and the Al Bateen Beach project.

Private developers were invited to bid for the two projects in a public tender issued on July 26.

While the Al Bateen Beach Project will be located in the residential neighbourhood of Al Bateen on Abu Dhabi island, Al Sharia Park will come up along the E11 highway between Abu Dhabi and Dubai, at an interchange near Al Rabha in Abu Dhabi.

Leisure destination

The beach project will convert Al Bateen into a vibrant waterfront recreation and leisure destination and will comprise three main zones – a ladies beach, a public beach and a waterfront walkway. The public beach is expected to integrate new beach features and water attractions with a number of food, beverage and retail outlets.

Similarly, once the Sharia Park is fully developed, the entire area near Al Rabha will have a new feel, making it a unique leisure spot for both residents and visitors.

Besides a new district park, the project will have water play and a historic orchard with a major bio-dome attraction. There will be a distinct retail area with food and beverage outlets as well.

Private developers who have been invited to bid for the two projects have until September 29 to submit their proposals.
