Abu Dhabi: Animal lovers in Abu Dhabi will take a walk this weekend to show their love and support for the cat population in the capital.

Fund and Feed Network Abu Dhabi, under the patronage of Middle East Animal Foundation and Al Bakri Pet Food Trading, is organising a ‘Walk of Hearts’ event on Friday, October 2, to create awareness about animal welfare.

People who care about helping animals are encouraged to join in the walk and create awareness about the plight of cats in the city, whose survival often rests on the acts of community volunteers, who feed and take care of them. The initiative is aimed at educating people about stray animals and their daily struggle for food and survival; and also the human impact on them.

The event will involve a long ‘walk to feed’ starting at 6pm along cat feeding stations being by the Fund And Feed Network volunteers, at the New Corniche, and then moving to the Family park, Heritage park, Lake park and Formal park.

“If you love sports and animals, you will have the chance to combine both of your passions. It is a great chance to burn off some calories and help raise awareness for our community cats,” said the organisers.

Educational flyers, T-shirts, vests and cat food will be made available for participants.
