Dubai: Women working for Dubai Police for more than 30 years were honoured yesterday for their dedication, loyalty and policing acumen.

Major General Khamis Mattar Al Mazeina, Deputy Chief of Dubai Police, said the presence of women in the police force, which was once the exclusive domain of men, has been an undeniable and welcome facet of Dubai Police since its estabishment 57 years ago.

“Many policewomen have the strength and the qualifications to compete well with men and those women deserve to be in leadership positions because they have the ability to compete with male policemen by their professionalism and capacity to be successful at work,” said Major General Al Mazeina.

Women working within the ranks of Dubai Police are supported by Lieutenant General Dahi Khalfan Tamim, Dubai Police Chief, who has always ensured that women have a strong presence in various posts and in all fields of policing in Dubai.

Al Mazeina said women were wise in balancing work requirements and being dedicated mothers.

Captain Anisa Ali, who completed 34 years of work with the police’s Traffic Department, said the great interest that Dubai Police gives to working women within the ranks is welcomed by female officers such as herself.

Sergeant Nasra Al Mazroui, who completed 38 years of service with Dubai Police, said the wise policy pursued by the leadership of Dubai Police gives trust to its employees.

According to Khatun Ali Baloch, who graduated in the first batch of female police, the strong support helped her to love her field of work, and helped her in self-development through the years.
