Vehicle ploughs into Fujairah bakery, injures two

Dubai: A vehicle rammed into a bakery and ploughed through the shop’s window after the driver accidentally stepped on the accelerator instead of the brake pad.

The crash left one Emirati man and the Arab driver with minor injuries, who paramedics later transferred to Fujairah Hospital to receive medical attention.

The Department of Information and Public Relations at Fujairah Police said the incident occurred at 11.40am on Monday.

In a statement, Fujairah Police explained that the vehicle had shattered the bakery’s glass window and crashed inside the shop.

Police said that the accident was caused when the Arab motorist pressed the accelerator instead of the brakes, while attempting to park in front of the bakery.

The accident left one of the shop’s customers injured – an Emirati man – who was standing near the glass door. The motorist responsible for the incident also sustained minor injuries.
