Dubai: Dubai Sports City is hosting a special golf and family day to help raise funds for the victims of the Haiti earthquake.

More than 140 golfers will be taking part in the event at the Els Club on February 27, which will be headlined by cricketer Andrew Flintoff.

The golf will be followed by a family day and barbeque, as well as an auction of sporting memorabilia, experiences and holidays.

Some of the lots on offer include a round of golf with former Ryder Cup Captain Sam Torrance, a cricket lesson with Andrew Flintoff and box seats for two at a Manchester United match.

All proceeds from the event will be donated to the Haiti Relief Program through UAE’s Red Crescent.

All places at the golfing event have been sold out.

The family day and barbeque starts at 4pm, with a minimum donation of Dh100 per adult and Dh50 for children under the age of 12.

Flintoff, said: “I spend a lot of time in Dubai and it is great to see the local community joining together to help raise funds for those suffering in Haiti. I’m delighted to be able to lend my support to such a worthy cause.”
