Todd Clements carded a final day nine under par 63 to claim his maiden DP World Tour title at the D+D REAL Czech Masters.

The Englishman, in his rookie season on the DP World Tour after graduating from the European Challenge Tour last year, started the day three strokes back but immediately cut the deficit with consecutive birdies on his opening three holes.

Another hat-trick of birdies followed from the sixth hole as he made the turn six under par, taking the outright lead for the first time after the eighth hole.

22 under par total

He then made a third run of three consecutive gains from the 11th hole and parred his remaining five holes to sign for a 22 under par total, facing an agonising wait as countryman Matt Wallace still had four holes to play.

Wallace moved to within one stroke after his fifth birdie of the day on the 14th hole but was unable to draw level as his birdie attempt at the 18th slid past the hole, signing for a five under par 67 and handing Clements his first victory on his 30th start.

"I’ve dreamt of this for a long time. It’s the reason I play golf. To win out here, it takes some people a few years. I had my luck today and managed to take it. Over the moon.

"I feel like I did my job on every shot. I was saying to myself to do that. With my putts, the luck was with me today because I holed a few long ones."

Competed on MENA Tour

Clements, who competed on the MENA Tour from 2015 until 2020, now moves to 51st on the Race to Dubai Rankings. Currently just one spot away from reaching the DP World Tour Championship in November at Jumeirah Golf Estates, Earth Course, Dubai.

In third place at the D+D REAL Czech Masters on 18 under par was Nicolai Højgaard, with the Dane making a late push for consideration in Luke Donald’s Ryder Cup team. Finishing in a share of fourth place was Robert MacIntyre, who still occupies the third and final automatic spot on the European Points list with one qualifying event left to play.

Sharing fourth with MacIntyre on 17 under was Sweden’s Ludvig Aberg, the German pair of Nick Bachem and Max Schmitt, Finland’s Sami Välimäki and Fabrizio Zanotti of Paraguay.
