Sharjah: Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) is paving the way for a growth platform for entrepreneurs and established businesses looking to set up bases in the emirate.

To give a strong push to the initiative — shjSEEN — SCCI signed partnerships with Twitter, Forbes Middle East, Brag Events and Careem to raise awareness for the emirate as a natural destination and to draw attention to the culture enrichment of Sharjah.

Through the shjSEEN campaign, SCCI seeks to build a solid foundation for the city from the ground up by providing access to all business resources in Sharjah at only a fraction of their living and operational costs.

Abdullah Al Owais, chairman of SCCI, told Gulf News that the strategy is to raise the profile of Sharjah and in line with Sharjah’s drive to strengthen its status as a regional and international destination for innovation and entrepreneurship.

With more than 30 per cent of UAE’s manufacturing industry based out of Sharjah, he said that the emirate has earned the reputation of producing high quality goods and is set to be the hub for trade, manufacturing and entrepreneurship.

Sara Al Madani, SCCI board member and member of the ShjSeen board of trustees, said that more details will be available on the launch date — February 2.

She said the project is about the economy, trade, business and driven by numbers based on so many researches and study which we have been doing for a while. The project will be highlighting the economy of Sharjah and celebrating with the people who are part of the economy.

The shjSEEN network has three pillars — activate, incubate and award.

She said that SCCI aims to support entrepreneurs to enter the world of business as Sharjah is the land of opportunity when it comes to economy. The incubator, which will also be for expats, will be launched in May.

“Sharjah’s strength has always come from the people who share a love for the city, so it’s only natural that we continue to encourage business opportunities and economic growth as we strive to build the next entrepreneurial ecosystem in the Emirate,” Sara said.

She said that the partnerships will help us galvanise Sharjah’s capacity for innovation so we can continue to offer services that are increasingly tailored to meet the needs of entrepreneurs and investors.

She stressed that this is the first time that Twitter has formed a partnership with a Government organisation in Sharjah.
