New Delhi: Two days after a car blast in Kerala, the investigating agencies have recovered from the scene a pen drive containing photographs of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and several videos of Babri mosque demolition.
The investigating officers of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) also seized a threat letter warning of another blast and avenging of Dadri beef victim Mohammad Akhlaq’s murder.
“The pen drive also contains several pictures of the Gujarat riots, photographs of Mumbai blast convict Yakub Memon and Dadri mob lynching victim Akhlaq, besides pictures of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and of the demolition of Babri mosque in Ayodhya in Uttar Pradesh,” highly placed sources in the SIT informed Gulf News.
The pendrive also contains the message that more such attacks on courts in Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu will be carried out soon.
Police sources, however, said they were trying to decode the exact message conveyed through the pen drive and the letter recovered from the blast site.
“There are many similarities between Tuesday’s blast at Collectorate office in Malappuram and the ones that had taken place at Chittur in Andhra Pradesh on April 7, at Kollam collectorate on June 15, and at Mysuru court on August 1,” Inspector General (Thrissur range) M R Ajit Kumar told media on Thursday.
According to investigating agencies, Tamil Nadu-based terror outfit ‘Al-Ummah’ is likely to be behind the blasts in Mallapuram. Al Ummah came into existence just after Babri Masjid demolition in 1992.
Al Ummah had earlier in 1998 tried to kill Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) senior leader LK Advani in Coimbatore.
“The method, timing and the place chosen for the blast on Tuesday had raised suspicion about the involvement of people with extremist views. We cannot rule out any possibility. The contents of the pen drive are also being examined to reach a final conclusion,” Kumar added.
The blast in a car took place in Malappuram in northern Kerala on November 1, about 360km from Kerala state capital Thiruvananthapuram. Nobody was injured.
