Islamabad: A Pakistani woman has been booked for adultery after her brother filed a case accusing her of giving birth to an illegitimate child.

In the police complaint filed in Islamabad, the brother alleged that his sister married a man five years ago and moved to his home in Naiabadi Sharifabad while his brother-in-law moved to Gulf at least two years ago for work, the Dawn reported.

He said his sister came to his home a few days ago and told the the family that she was pregnant and later gave birth to a baby girl.

He asked police to investigate the matter as he suspected her of having illicit relations.

A police official said that the case is also being investigated from other aspects, including property disputes, and the chances of an ulterior motive behind the allegation could not be ruled out.

He said the woman was yet to be arrested and a DNA test would be conducted.
