Primaries in South Dakota and Montana will reveal be the last stops in this historic race to decide which candidate will face Republican nominee John McCain in November.
Obama has needs just close to 40 more delegates to the seal the nomination, becoming the first black presidential nominee.
Speaking to reporters on Monday, Obama said he believed the 200 or so superdelegates remaining will make their decisions quickly.
However, rival Hillary Clinton continued to pursue the race, despite it almost coming to an end.
In an attempt to prove that she is the best candidate to go against McCain in November, Clinton said Tuesday's votes marked "the beginning of a new phase of the campaign".
