Washington: Authorities have arrested a US citizen charged with providing Israel with nuclear and military secrets, the Justice Department said.
Authorities also alleged that Ben Ami Kadish was a spy for Israel during the 1980s and provided the Israelis with information about nuclear weaponry.
US Deputy Spokesman Tom Casey said the United States intends to raise the issue with the Israeli government. "This was not the kind of behaviour we would expect from friends and allies, and that would remain the case today," Casey said.
Kadish appeared in court Tuesday to face four counts, including conspiracy to disclose us national defence documents and acting as an agent of the Israeli government. He was released after posting bail of $300,000.
