Manila: A senior official asked women's groups to critique the design of newly erected urinals for women along a major thoroughfare in Metro Manila.

"I am encouraging the ladies to give Metro Manila Development Authority [MMDA] feedbacks as to the viability of the urinals, their design and location," MMDA Chairman Oscar Inocentes said in a press statement.

"That way, we would know which aspects we need to improve on," said Inocentes, adding the green-coloured urinals have doors, walls with slight opening near the ceiling, and roofs.

"They were primarily designed to save women the trouble of running to distant fast food chains and restaurants to urinate," said Inocentes, adding that more women-oriented projects will be launched by MMDA if there is a demand for them.
