Manila/Mindanao: Two transmission towers of a government-run agency were bombed on Monday, bringing to 14 the firm's steel structures bombed since the start of the year, authorities have said.
The explosions were caused by 81mm mortar that were attached to the towers of the National Transmission Corporation (Transco) in Guimba village, Marawi City, said Loremir Adasa, acting vice-president for Visayas and Mindanao.
The damage was estimated at about 14 million pesos (Dh 1.27 million).
After the attack, there was a brief low-voltage problem in some parts. "The problem has already been addressed and power outages are no longer expected in the affected areas," said Adasa.
Transco earlier urged residents to help secure its facilities. "If the bombing is not be stopped, power supply would be affected," Adasa warned.
