Philippine army sergeant goes on deadly shooting rampage
Two soldiers were killed and five others wounded after an army sergeant went on a shooting spree in a southern Philippine military camp, a military spokesman said on Saturday.
Manila: Two soldiers were killed and five others wounded after an army sergeant went on a shooting spree in a southern Philippine military camp, a military spokesman said on Saturday.
Lt. Col. Jonathan Ponce said that Technical Sgt. Policarpio dela Cruz fired his M-16 rifles at about 15 other members of the army's 2nd Mechanized Battallion moments after they arrived on Friday afternoon at the camp in Barira township in Maguindanao province.
Ponce said dela Cruz was shot and wounded by other soldiers before he could reload his rifle.
Ponce said the incident is under investigation.
