Manila: Policemen found a 21-year-old student who was released by his kidnappers in southern Philippines. This ended his two months of captivity, a local paper said.

Kenn Klefford Lao, student of Notre Dame of Jolo College, was rescued by authorities at Langhob village in Patikul at 8.45pm Wednesday, Chief Superintendent Agrimero Cruz Jr. said yesterday.

Residents who saw him reported it to authorities, said Cruz, adding that the kidnappers left their victim "without a fight".

Authorities found a half sack of rice, cooked cassava, cooking wares, old clothes, and other items where they found Lao, said Cruz.

Lao was brought to a hospital for medical check-up, said Cruz. His abductors were not identified.
