Mila Dumaguit, 52, assistant chief of the department of social welfare, died instantly when shot at by a gunman aboard a motorcycle
Manila: A senior government official was shot dead by still unidentified motorcycle-riding killers early morning of Wednesday, a radio report said.
Mila Dumaguit, 52, assistant chief of the department of social welfare, died instantly when shot at by a gunman aboard a motorcycle, when her van was at the corner of Osmena and Tanay Streets in Valenzuela village, Makati City (the country's financial district) before seven in the morning, Police Superintendent Daniel Oamil told DZMM.
Dumaguit was declared dead on arrival when brought to a nearby hospital, said Oamil, adding that her driver, Jun del Pilar, was critically injured and was brought to the same hospital for treatment.
The killers did not take anything from the van, said Police Officer Jason David, adding that investigators are eyeing reports that the incident was work-related.
Investigators are now investigating people who have had altercations with the victim, said David.
The report was confirmed by Philippine National Police spokesman Chief Superintendent Agrimero Cruz Jr.
