1972: Fidel Ramos becomes head of the Philippine Constabulary under the country’s armed forces.

1982: After a decorated military career, Ramos becomes vice-chief of staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines under President Ferdinand Marcos.

1986: After Marcos was removed from office, President Corazon Aquino made Ramos Chief of Staff of the AFP and later Secretary of National Defence.

1992: Ramos defeats Miriam Defensor Santiago in the presidential elections, becoming president of the Philippines at 64. He remained president until 1998.

2001: Ramos plays a role in the second EDSA Revolution, which removes President Joseph Estrada and replaces him with his vice president Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.
