Arnolfo Fernandez was electrocuted while he was wading through Bangkok's flooded streets
Manila: A Filipino teacher died of electrocution in flooded Bangkok, a senior official said.
Arnolfo Fernandez was electrocuted while he was wading through Bangkok's flooded streets, according to Raul Hernandez, spokesman of Manila foreign affairs department.
Fernandez's wife Arlet flew to Bangkok to arrange the repatriation of the remains of her husband, said Hernandez, adding that the body of Fernandez would be immediately repatriated.
Fernandez was the first overseas Filipino worker (OFW) who perished in Bangkok where 373 people have died and affected 2.5 million people due to heavy monsoon rains since July.
Some 63 Filipinos in Bangkok are currently staying at the Philippine Embassy, said Fernandez.
The Philippine Embassy in Bangkok has released hot lines which the OFWs could call in case of emergency.
Some 10 million OFWs are based worldwide.
