Manila: The foetus of a baby boy was found abandoned in the lavatory of a plane from Abu Dhabi that arrived at Pasay City's Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) on Monday night, a radio report said.

A maintenance worker found the foetus, which was wrapped in a diaper, in a trash can in the lavatory of Eithad Airways flight EY-428, which arrived on Monday night from Abu Dhabi, DZBB radio station said. Randy Odo, an airport maintenance worker, said he was cleaning the plane when he found the foetus. Doctors at the airport said it was six to seven months old.

An Etihad Airways spokesman said: "Etihad Airways can confirm that a human foetus was discovered on board one of its aircraft at Ninoy Aquino Airport in Manila by a member of the airport's cleaning staff on Monday, January 3.

"Any media enquiries should be directed to local police." Authorities in the Philippines sent the foetus to the Veronica Funeral Parlor. The Southern Police District was in charge of the case.

Last September 12, an overseas Filipino worker claimed she was the mother of a baby boy found abandoned and alive in a Gulf Air plane's lavatory.
