United States commends Musharraf for role in war against terrorism
The United States commended outgoing Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf for his role in the fight against terrorism.
Washington: The United States commended outgoing Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf for his role in the fight against terrorism.
US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice called Musharraf "one of the world's most committed partners in the war against terrorism and extremism."
Her comments came hours after Musharraf announced his resignation on Monday.
She said the United States would continue working with the Pakistani government and political leaders to fight extremism, address energy and food shortages and improve economic stability.
Musharraf became a close ally of the US after the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.
