Reward on offer for Marriott bombing clues
The government on Sunday offered a Rs10 million [Dh790,000] reward for information about the truck or terrorists involved in the recent Marriott Hotel suicide bombing.

Islamabad: The government on Sunday offered a Rs10 million [Dh790,000] reward for information about the truck or terrorists involved in the recent Marriott Hotel suicide bombing.
The interior ministry advertised the reward in national newspapers, ensuring that the name of the informer would not be disclosed. The September 20 bombing, the worst terrorist attack in the capital, left around 60 people dead and hundreds more injured.
Meanwhile, a high-powered committee headed by interior ministry chief Rahman Malek has presented a report to Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani about the luxury hotel bombing.
The report says a 10-wheeler truck was used in the bombing and the suicide attacker wanted to proceed to the Parliament House, but due to extra security in the red zone he turned his vehicle towards the Marriott Hotel and hit its outer gate. According to the report, the blast took place seven minutes after the truck had caught fire.
Due to inadequate firefighting arrangements in the hotel the security guards could not put out the fire with over 600kg of RDX and TNT explosive and aluminum powder loaded on the truck going off.
New plan
The committee has recommended measures to further tighten security. Under the new plan, close circuit cameras will be installed along the main roads and all important points in the capital, and will be linked with a centralised control room.
All trucks, buses and taxis entering the capital will be monitored and a residential sector close to a cluster of government buildings will be included in the red zone where Parliament, the PM House and the Supreme Court are located.
