Senior police officer Amir Farooqi said that Amir Ali also known as Pura and Akbar Ali also known as Lachu were arrested during a police raid in Pak Colony when the police arrived there following a tip-off.

Two Kalashnikov weapons were also recovered from the gangsters.

The officer said that the pair were wanted for questioning over many murders and target killings in the city as well as for the trade of illicit drugs in the area.

One of the brothers of Akbar Ali was killed in a recent operation conducted by police in the area.

The police undertook an eight-day long clean-up operation in Lyari which took the lives of 36 people including six police officials.

Elsewhere, four people were gunned down and four others were injured yesterday morning.
