Islamabad: Pakistan has said it has the right to demand a nuclear deal with the United States, following the rubber stamping of an agreement with India.

Reacting to the US Senate's decision to approve the pact with India, prime minister Yousuf Raza Gilani said the deal means Pakistan now "has the right to demand a civil nuclear agreement with America."

The Prime Minister added that the move would ensure that there was "no discrimination."

However the US has yet to express a desire to strike a deal with Pakistan over civilian nuclear technology.
