New institution to carry out Bhutto's mission
A foundation has been launched in Dubai to carry out Benazir Bhutto's mission for education, health and women empowerment.
Dubai: A foundation was launched in Dubai on Saturday to carry out Benazir Bhutto's mission for education, health and women empowerment.
Bukhtawar Bhutto, the youngest child of the late Bhutto, announced the establishment the Benazir Bhutto Shaheed Foundation at a function held to mark 55th birth anniversary of the slain leader of the Pakistan Peoples Party. The foundation will have activities around the world.
Bukhtawar also launched a documentary film produced by Javed Malek, a Dubai-based television journalists, on the life of the late Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto (Benazir's father).
Earlier, supporters of the late Bhutto marked her birth anniversary in Dubai by offering prayers at a simple ceremony at her residence in Emirates Hills.
Bhutto's daughters Bukhtawar and Asifa received the well wishers and thanked them for their support.
Bhutto had celebrated her last birthday at a grand function amongst her supporters in Dubai.
"This year, we are keeping it simple and just offering prayers for our great leader," said Sardar Javed Yaqoob, information secretary of the PPP in Dubai.
Rich tributes
A large number of people also gathered at a separate ceremony in Sharjah organised by the PPP supporters including Akram Farooqi and Rashid Chugtai.
Speakers at the function paid rich tributes to the late Bhutto saying that their leader sacrificed her life defending the country against dictatorship, extremism and tyranny and to give to the people respect, dignity and honour.
