New chief appointed for Pak spy agency
Pakistan has replaced the head of its powerful Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) in a first major reshuffle in the army's top command since General Ashfaq Parvez Kiyani took over as Chief of Army Staff in December last year.
Islamabad: Pakistan has replaced the head of its powerful Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) in a first major reshuffle in the army's top command since General Ashfaq Parvez Kiyani took over as Chief of Army Staff in December last year.
Lieutenant General Ahmad Shuja Pasha has been appointed new Director General of the ISI in place of Lt Gen Nadeem Taj, who was made chief of the country's premier intelligence agency by former president Pervez Musharraf.
Lt Gen Taj has been appointed Commander of 30 Corps in Gujranwala.
Lt Gen Pasha had been overseeing the ongoing security operations in the tribal areas in North West Frontier Province. He was director general of military operations and was directly responsible for planning and execution of all major security strikes in tribal areas and northern Swat valley.
