Nawaz party rejects PPP reconciliation
Dubai: The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has rejected any reconciliation with the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) unless Benazir Bhutto completely cuts off ties with President Pervez Musharraf.
"Bhutto discussed with me scenarios and suggested possible joint struggle in case of emergency in the country but I did not make any commitment," Senator Ishaq Dar, PML-N parliamentary leader and former federal finance minister of Pakistan told Gulf News.
Earlier, Bhutto had told Gulf News that she had reached out to former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and had met his aide Ishaq Dar in Dubai before she left for Pakistan. "I met Ishaq Dar in Dubai when I heard reports an emergency was underway," she said.
"It is not a joke that she [Bhutto] breaches the contract whenever she wants and joins us at her will," Dar said. He said Bhutto had done a deal with a military dictator violating the Charter of Democracy which both the parties signed in May to launch a joint struggle for restoration of democracy in the country.
