Karachi: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) on Tuesday said it was not aware of the existence of two suspects whose photographs were released by British police in connection with the murder of Dr Imran Farooq, one of the founding leaders of the party.

British investigative agency Metropolitan Police Service issued the photos of the two suspects on Tuesday. The anti-terrorism unit of the Metroplitan Police said that Mohsin Ali Syed and Kashif Khan Kamran were in the United Kingdom when Dr Farooq was murdered.

The police said that both the men, who were on student visas in the UK, left the country the evening the MQM leader was murdered.

In a statement, the MQM said it was not aware of the existence of the two persons.

The MQM statement further said that the persons whose photos had been released by Scotland Yard were not members of MQM or any of its wings.

The party said it was cooperating in the murder investigation of Dr Imran Farooq in every possible manner and it was its desire that his killers should be brought to justice.
