Minister says political deal with Benazir finalised
Political deal between President Pervez Musharraf and former prime minister Benazir Bhutto has been finalised and everything will be crystal clear within next four weeks, said federal minister Shaikh Rashid Ahmad, in an exclusive interview with Gulf News.
Islamabad: Political deal between President Pervez Musharraf and former prime minister Benazir Bhutto has been finalised and everything will be crystal clear within next four weeks, said federal minister Shaikh Rashid Ahmad, in an exclusive interview with Gulf News.
"Everything has been settled and the behaviour of the Pakistan Peoples Party [PPP] stalwarts, including Benazir Bhutto, is reflective of the pre-election understanding," Ahmad said
In response to a question, the minister said that both, Musharraf and Benazir, have developed understanding on the issue of the uniform.
"She has personally admitted that there is a secret understanding on the uniform issue."
The minister maintained that Benazir along with her party members, in one way or the other, will support Musharraf, under the deal.
"Benazir will follow a policy that helps Musharraf whether it is the time of his re-election, uniform or in the post-elections scenario."
He said the next four weeks are highly important in the country's history when the government will have to take significant decisions.
"Deal with Benazir Bhutto is one of these issues."
"I had said earlier that talks on reconciliation between Musharraf and Benazir were going on. All the matters have been settled now," he claimed.
Warning against emergency
Former prime minister and the chairperson of Pakistan People's Party (PPP) Benazir Bhutto confirmed yesterday that she had a meeting with President Pervez Musharrraf last month.
According to national dailies Benazir, in her exclusive interview to a US newspaper, however, warned that if emergency was promulgated in the country or the general elections were rigged, the orange revolution would be brought about like Ukraine.
