Badin: The cleric of a local mosque reportedly killed a 12-year-old girl after sexually assaulting her along with three accomplices, local media reported on Sunday.
According to reports, the girl was at the seminary for religious studies when Maulvi Ghulam Murtaza dismissed the class and asked her to stay back.
Murtaza then reportedly called three other men and the four of them gang raped the girl in one of the rooms in the mosque.
They then strangled her in an apparent attempt to cover up the crime.
After the family received information about what had happened, they rushed to the mosque to rescue her but it was too late.
Doctors confirmed she was killed after a violent sexual assault. Following the doctor’s confirmation, police arrested the cleric and registered an case against him. The other three men are on the run.
In another incident in Shujahabad, a traffic warden identified as Akhtar allegedly raped a 22-year-old woman after tricking her into believe he would marry her. The civil hospital’s medical report confirmed it was sexual assault. Police registered a case but the accused remains at large.
