Islamabad: Pakistan border forces were on alert on Saturday after reports that 28 Iranian border guards were kidnapped, the Kuna news agency reported.
The Iranian guards were kidnapped on Friday and Iranian officials have asked Pakistan for help, Pakistan's Doun newspaper reported.
A suspected terrorist group had attacked two border checkpoints on Friday and abducted 32 soldiers, but later released four.
The four freed soldiers said they captors beat them severely, according to media reports.
