Zimbabwe train accident leaves dozens injured
A passenger train derailed in Zimbabwe’s city of Bulawayo, injuring at least 50 people, Zimbabwe’s state media reported on Saturday.
Johannesburg: A passenger train that derailed in Zimbabwe's city of Bulawayo has injured at least 50 people, Zimbabwe's state media reported on Saturday.
Zimbabwe police superintendent Alex Chagwedera told the Herald newspaper the train was carrying about 1,000 passengers when it derailed on Friday.
"About 50 people were injured. The train was travelling from Bulawayo to Harare," Chagwedera was quoted as saying.
Most of the injured had been taken to hospitals in Harare, the Herald reported. It was not clear what caused the accident.
