Venezuela to resume diplomatic ties with Colombia
Venezuela has said it will normalize diplomatic relations with Colombia, ending a week long stand-off between the two countries.
Caracas: Venezuela has said it will normalize diplomatic relations with Colombia, ending a week long stand-off between the two countries.
Caracas had severed ties with Colombia and sent troops to the border after Bogota carried out a raid into neighbouring Ecuador last week.
The decision to normalize relations was taken after a meeting of the Organization of American States (OAS).
However, Ecuador has said that it will take longer for things to get back to normal, having accused Colombia of violating its sovereignty.
Venezuela's foreign ministry called the summit outcome a "victory for peace and sovereignty... which demonstrated the importance of Latin American unity".
