1986: After being active in socialist political parties and a career as a university lecturer, Dominique Strauss-Kahn begins his political career by being elected into parliament.
1993: He starts the law firm DSK Consultants and works as a business lawyer.
1997: Strauss-Kahn is made Minster of Economics, Finances and Industry after two years as mayor of Sarcelles. He implements a wide privatisation programme.
1999: Resigns his post to fight accusations of financial corruption.
2007: DSK becomes head of the International Monetary Fund.
2011: DSK resigns from his post at the IMF after being arrested for sexual assault in New York.
