Quake with magnitude of 6.1 hits northern Japan
A 6.1-magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of northern Japan on Thursday, the Meteorological Agency said.

Tokyo: A 6.1-magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of northern Japan on Thursday, the Meteorological Agency said.
There were no immediate reports of damage or casualties.
The quake hit Thursday morning off the coast of Miyagi, about 180 miles north of Tokyo, the agency said. It struck at a depth of about six miles.
The agency said there was no danger of a tsunami from the earthquake.
A police official in Miyagi said he did not feel any tremors, and said authorities there have not received any reports of damage or casualties. The official spoke on condition of anonymity, citing department policy.
Japan is one of the world's most earthquake-prone countries.
