Quake hits eastern Nepal, no damages reported

Kathmandu: An earthquake measuring magnitude 5.4 struck eastern Nepal on Thursday, but there were no immediate reports of casualties.

The quake was centred 70 km (40 miles) north of Namche Bazar, and had a depth of 10 km.

Authorities in Nepal said the quake measured 6.0 and was felt in Solukhumbu area where Mount Everest is located.

"Nepali villages south of Mount Everest felt the earthquake but there was no report of any damage or injuries yet," the district governor of Solukhumbu said.
