Moroni: The Comoros government has said it has re-captured the capital and airport of the rebel island of Anjouan.
The announcement comes just hours after an African-Union backed military assault got underway to oust a renegade colonel who took power last May.
There was no immediate word on casualties.
A military official said troops met a small amount of resistance, but were now searching for Colonel Mohamed Bacar.
