China condemns Dalai Lama ahead of planned secret talks
China prefaced expected secret talks with representatives of the Dalai Lama on Saturday by condemning the exiled Tibetan Buddhist leader as a criminal.
Beijing: China prefaced expected secret talks with representatives of the Dalai Lama on Saturday by condemning the exiled Tibetan Buddhist leader as a criminal.
The Tibetan government-in-exile in India said two senior ambassadors were traveling on Saturday to China via Hong Hong to discuss the Tibetan riots and protests.
"Patriotic people of Tibet strongly condemn and vehemently denounce the litany of crimes committed by the Fourteenth Dalai Lama and his followers," the official Tibet Daily reported.
China's policies in Tibet have angered Beijing and provoked rallies at home and abroad that also affected the Olympic torch's world tour.
The Dalai Lama has said he objects to violence and supports the Beijing Olympics. China says he is insincere.
"The Dalai clique's hopes of achieving Tibetan independence are increasingly dim, and at this time when their hopes have been destroyed, the Dalai clique launched a bloody violent event—their last bout of madness," the paper reported.
