Canadian pig farmer sentenced to life for six murders
Canadian serial killer Robert Pickton has been sentenced to life in prison, after being found guilty of the murders of six women.
Vancouver: Canadian serial killer Robert Pickton has been sentenced to life in prison, after being found guilty of the murders of six women.
The pig farmer, who was found guilty earlier in the week, will be eligible for parole after 25 years but it is unlikely he will ever be released.
Pickton has still to stand trial for the murder of another 20 women, mostly prostitutes and drug addicts from Vancouver's Downtown Eastside area.
He fed the remains of the women to his pigs after murdering them.
Passing sentence, Judge James Williams said: "What happened to them was senseless and despicable."
The daughter of one of his victims had an emotional statement read to the court.
The letter, from 15-year-old Brittney Frey, whose mother Marnie was killed by Pickton, said: “Mr Pickton, why did you do that? When you took her from me, it was like ripping out my heart."
