Canada has asked Saudi Arabia to waive the immunity of a diplomat who led Ottawa police on a chase before crashing head-on into a police cruiser.
Toronto: Canada has asked Saudi Arabia to waive the immunity of a diplomat who led Ottawa police on a chase before crashing head-on into a police cruiser.
Catherine Loubier, a spokeswoman for Foreign Affairs Minister Lawrence Cannon, confirmed the request on Thursday.
The 30-year-old man was released from custody after it was discovered he has diplomatic status.
No other information has made available about the man.
Police said he was released into the care of embassy officials.
