Brussels: Belgium authorities went on high alert on Friday after the arrest of 14 suspects in a plot to free a jailed Al Qaida suspect.
"There are indications a terrorist attack could be in preparation," said Prime Minister Guy Verhofstadt.
The 14 were planning to free Al Qaida suspect, Nizar Trabelsi, who was arrested in September 2001 for plotting attacks on US targets.
"They were planning to use weapons and explosives to free him....These means could be employed for another use," said Lieve Pellens, spokeswoman for the federal prosecutors.
