Makassar: Indonesian police and students clashed in Makassar, the capital of Indonesia's South Sulawesi province, injuring six people, officials said on Monday.
Students from Muhammadiyah University put up barriers in Makassar's main road and threw rocks and stones at police, local police chief Kamaruddin told Reuters.
The clashes came after a report that police had shot a student on Saturday night.
Kamaruddin said one policeman and four students were hit by the stones.
An assistant rector at the campus said that the dean of the university was also among those injured, who are now being treated in a police hospital in Makassar
