Beijing: A total of 11 electricians have died so far in the line of duty while restoring power supplies to blacked out regions by the worst snowstorm to hit China in more than five decades.
Nine worked for the State Grid Corp of China and two were from the smaller China Southern Power Grid, the inhua news agency reported.
China's rescue workers had managed to restore electricity supply to more than 17.68 million households in 51 counties by Monday afternoon.
At least 60 people have died as a result of the severe weather conditions in the country, with transport and power supplies being heavily disrupted.
The Chinese government has stepped up relief efforts as the snowstorm is forecast to continue for the next five days before a milder snowy and rainy weather hits southern regions from February 10.
