Vishwa Hindu Parishad leader Pravin Togadia, known for his rabble rousing, has warned that his organisation will not allow conversion of a single Hindu to another religion as it would be an insult to the self respect of the Hindu community.
Addressing a mammoth public meeting — as part of the golden jubilee of VHP in Hyderabad — he said that the Hindus were facing the threat of becoming a minority in their own country because of the twin threats of conversion and Love Jihad. “We can not tolerate this”, he said. “In a country where everybody was a Hindu, only 82 per cent of population remains Hindu,” he said alleging that the Hindus were converted to Islam and Christianity during the Mughal and British Raj. “Now these people are coming back to the Hindu fold”.
Earlier, he had addressed a meeting of the VHP officials as part of World Hindu Convention Togadia called for intensification of “ghar vapsi” (conversion of non Hindus to Hinduism) in both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
He hoped that the enforcement of uniform civil code in the country will help in stopping the system of four marriages. “After 1,000 years now we have a government in the country which cares for the Hindus and under which Hindus feel safe”, he said.
Though the meeting was on the occasion of completion of 50 years of VHP, Togadia, International President of VHP said, “we will celebrate the Golden Jubilee only after construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya and returning of Kashmiri pandits to their homes”.
Talking of the reasons of Dalits converting to Islam and Christianity, Togadia said that untouchability should be removed from Hindu society and Dalits and Brahmins should drink water from the same well.
Lashing out at the KCR government in Telangana, he alleged that the chief minister was trying to bring back rule of Nizam by giving reservations to Muslims and promoting Urdu language. “If that happens every Hindu child will become Sardar Patel,” he said.
