Police used batons to disperse protesting students after 5,000 out of 7,000 failed
Srinagar: Police in Indian-controlled Kashmir used batons to disperse hundreds of female paramedic students protesting recent exam results.
The students were demanding that their tests be rechecked after nearly 5,000 students out of 7,000 failed.
On Wednesday they protested outside the health department's office in Srinagar, the main city in Kashmir.
Police said at least four students were injured as police used batons following a scuffle with the crowd.
A local journalist covering the protest was beaten and detained for an hour by the police.
Police in Indian Kashmir are instructed to keep the media away from protest sites.
