Six killed in Kerala capital road accidents

Five lives were lost in a single incident, when a car rammed the rear of a truck at Kazhakoottam early on Thursday.
The car was taking Manoj (29), who works in Bahrain, and his family to the airport to take a flight.
Apart from Manoj, his wife Divya (20), Divya's father Thankappan Achary (52) and Manoj's brother Mahesh (25) died in the accident.
Divya was reportedly three months pregnant.
According to reports, the accident occurred when the truck stopped abruptly and the car rammed its rear.
Manoj's father Vijayan Achary (57), his mother Prabhavathy (49) and Divya's mother Chandrika (48) were admitted to the medical college hospital here with serious injuries.
Manoj's family is from Paravur and Divya's family is from Chadayamangalam, both in Kollam district.
In another accident a few kilometres away a motorcyclist died after he was knocked down by a truck. The deceased was identified as Badaruddin (53) and the accident occurred near Pallipuram.
According to local reports, road accidents in the Pallippuram area have killed at least ten persons in the past one month.
On Wednesday, a youth who was assisting a mahout walking his elephant on along the road, was killed when a car knocked him down and sped away. On the previous day a security service company employee was killed when his bike was hit by a passenger bus in the same area.
