Pune: A 250-bed state-of-the-art hospital in Pune's Magarpatta City is expected to be a boon for victims of accidents on the highways linking Pune, Solapur and Ahmednagar because of its accessibility.
"It takes at least an hour from the city to transfer victims of serious highway accidents to Ruby Hall and Jehangir Hospitals - thus losing precious time, especially in that golden hour so essential in providing medical care for critically injured patients," said Dr Dilip Mane, Internal Medicine, and Managing Director of Noble Hospital, Pune's newest multi-speciality facility.
Dedicated team
Speaking at the opening of Noble Hospital, located between the urban and rural boundaries of Pune's upcoming IT corridor, Mane said the hospital's dedicated trauma care centre has a fully trained trauma team and medical staff.
The goal is to reach the victims at the site of the accident within minutes, doctors told reporters on a tour of the hospital.
They said the hospital's well-equipped critical care ambulance staff will strive to give the initial medical care that could save victims.
Incidentally, Maharashtra has one of the highest numbers of highway accidents in the country.
"Trauma is just one of our concerns," Mane said, adding "since we intend to provide the best of tertiary medical care for the people in and around this region."
The six-storeyed hospital has 32 departments, 70 medical consultants and a staff-patient ration of 3:1. The project is the brainchild of Mane and Satish Magar.
