New Delhi: Michelle Obama, who is in India on a three-day visit, along with her husband Barack Obama, was not seen accompanying her husband to any of his official outings on Sunday.

The US first lady was not present either at Rashtrapati Bhavan or at Rajghat to pay her tribute to Mahatma Gandhi. Nor did she venture out of the hotel premises to attend any of the events prepared for her.

Sources indicate that the first lady was battling out the jet lag and was taking a quick nap.

She landed in Delhi’s Palam Airport wearing an outfit by Indian designer Bibhu Mohapatra. Michelle wore a geometric-print black and white knee-length dress with blue-floral motifs in the centre. She teamed this with a matching cape coat that carried forward the same floral prints on the sleeves.

Bibhu Mohapatra, who is based in New York but is originally from Rourkela in Odisha, has designed dresses for Michelle before — she wore a dress by Mohapatra on Jay Leno’s TV show.
