Mamata plot theory draws flak from all quarters

Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's conspiracy theory of leftist parties plotting to kill her is drawing critical flak from all sections of society. Banerjee says the theory is being assisted by Maoists and Pakistan's secret service and is financed by North Korea and Venezuela.

While the Left parties particularly the CPI-M is contemplating a defamation case against the Chief Minister, others worry why she is trying to gather sympathy and make a mockery of the mandate she had received from the people.

Axis of the evil

Rejecting the allegation, CPI-M leader Sitaram Yechury said there cannot be anything more ridiculous than Mamata naming CPI-M, Maoists, Venezuela, and North Korea as a "grand coalition and axis of the evil" and giving such a statement to the international media.

"When she was in the opposition she took Maoist help to create disturbances in Nandigram and Singur. But we as a party will never do that. We will examine whether it merits defamation," Yechury said.
