Number of Lok Sabha Seats: 7

Kapil Sibal (Chandni Chowk, Congress party)

The federal minister is seeking a hat-trick of victories from Chandni Chowk. His sagging prospects got a boost after Shahi Imam of Jama Masjid asked Muslims to vote for the Congress party. Muslims play a decisive role in Chandni Chowk.

Ajay Maken (New Delhi, New Delhi)

Has a good track record first as a minister in Delhi and then at the centre as junior minister for urban development and later with independent charge of the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs. Has risen through the ranks. Was president of the Delhi University Students Union in the past.

Meenakshi Lekhi (New Delhi, BJP)

Lekhi along with Nirmala Sitharaman was introduced by the previous BJP president Nitin Gadkari as two new spokespersons of the party. Lekhi, an advocate, is making her electoral debut.

Harsh Vardhan (Chandni Chowk, BJP)

A widely respected figure both as a ENT specialist doctor and a politician, he is the face of the BJP in Delhi. Late nomination by BJP as its chief ministerial candidate robbed the party chance to emerge victorious in Delhi.

Ashutosh (Chandni Chowk, AAP)

He quit as managing editor of Hindi news channel IBN-7 after AAP came to power in Delhi and has headed straight into a tough electoral politics.

Raj Mohan Gandhi (East Delhi, AAP)

AAP was happy to get writer — more famous as grandson of Mahatma Gandhi — into its fold but she refused to contest against BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi from their home state Gujarat. AAP has fielded him from East Delhi and can win only by exploiting famous surname and lineage and goodwill created by Kejriwal in the constituency in the past.
